Speed control of two stepper motors

Hi NI community!

I am kind of newie in Labview environment and also stepper motor control. Nevertheless I would like to ask for help and advice...I have at the moment 2 stepper motors to be controlled simultaneously, to be more exact I have a problem how to implement a speed control for both of them, because I can give command to one motor once at a time, so I have to do some kind of multiplexing to switch between them at particular time moments and now I am kind of lost how to implement such an algorithm for speed control, because one motor kind of has to wait for the other to end its move and this introduces a delay that results in speed influence(more precisely in its decrease)...which would be capable of controlling both drives and move them at constant in advance determined speeds...pls...if you need any information about the equipment or a detailed description of apparatus that should be controlled just ask;)

Thanks everyone in advance,

Adam

Hi Adam,

Welcome to the NI Discussion Forums! What manufacturer/model of stepper motors are you using, and how are you interfacing them with your computer? Also, are you using our NI motion control hardware for your setup? Depending on what your setup is, my recommendation will vary. Thanks!

Hello Joseph!

Thanks for warm welcome!;)Okay, so I hope I can be exact and descriptive enough...motors are ASTROSYN STEPPER, TYPE 23LM-C325-21V. Concerning the connection to the computer...it is connected via LPT port to a ADC(16 bit)-DAC(12 bit) Box converter(all of this is king of "home made" by clever people. unfortunately not me:))))I think this should be also answer to your about the NI motion control hardware;)Enclosing some pics for better idea....

Cheers,

Adam
