Good afternoon, I´m having a difficult time trying to activate the limit sensors in three different stepper motors (All motor are Newport rotary stages). I don´t have any problem with the motion of the motor, it´s just the limit sensors. My setup is as it follows:
I dont have any trouble for controlling the steppers in open-loop mode, but I can´t activate none of the limits (Mechanical zero, +End of run, -End of run). These are the connections I made:
And also the configurations I am using in MAX:
The rotary stage manual also show this about the sensors:
As the last image shows, the sensors are open collector type and should activate after a +- 170° rotation. I have rotated the stage for more than 360° without any success of sensors activation, also I have change the position of the Inhibition limit switch and performed the movement. I Also have read a lot of post here in the forums, the manual of the UMI 7774 and PXI 7350. The Technical notes dont help me either like this one and this one.
For what I have read the sensors are NPN sinking, but the UMI 7774 Manual only shows the connection for PNP sourcing sensors. Does this mean I can´t use the feedback connector for this type of sensors? Also, can I use the Digital I/O signals from the UMI for this proupuse?
Any help you guys can give me I´ll be gratefull.

Hello abrahmx
I would suggest you to check the following documents

I believe you could also find some useful information regarding your project in the following link

Hello ellian.bandin, thank you for your reply. There is no problem with the movement of the stepper motors, I have already read those manuals but I couldn´t find the answer to my problem wich is (I think) to connect a sinking output (sensors) and a sinking input (UMI 7774). I found this information regarding this issue, also I atteched the circuit I used for testing with this information.
Using a oscilloscope I could check that the signal in the input (Pin 12) change from 5V to 0V with the movement of the stage, but the UMI box nor MAX show such change. Any other help would be appreciated.
