XPS motion controller drivers not showing up on Function Palette

I downloaded the drivers for the XPS Q8 motion controller and copied it to the user libraries folder where LabView is installed on my system. But the functions show up as Icons with a Question mark in my Function palette under User Libraries. How do I get this to work properly? I am not connected to the instrument. Should I be connected in order to be able to access the driver functions?

You should not need to connect to the device to see these VIs. In order for it to show up on the palette, make sure to put the driver in the instr.lib folder (C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2012\instr.lib on Windows 7). When you do this you should see the palette come up in Instrument I/O >> Instrument Drivers.

Cameron,

I've tried that as well. I still get the same problem. The icons show up, but with a ? symbol, and I'm unable to select them.

Where did you download this driver from. I do not see it as a driver that we support on our website. Could you provide a link?

I used ftp to download the drivers from the instrument itself. Still having the same problem. The icons for the drivers in the function palette have a question mark symbol.

The reason I ask is because I am unfamiliar with the hardware and drivers you are using. I would like to look into them to see if there is any else needed. Can you point me to them on the web?

The drivers are stored within the instrument itself.

What version of LabVIEW and which OS are you using?

Perhaps the drivers are not compatible with more recent versions of LabVIEW?

You need to copy the entire folder and put it into Labview.

In XP I use windows explorer and type in ftp://192.168.0.254 or your ip address.

In windows explorer you can copy the directory XP-C8 or Q8.

Then put it in user.lib or instr.lib.

If you use ftp in a cmd window or on Internet exlporer you can see the individual files, but can't get the entire directory.

There a some dumb mistakes in Newport labview vi's.

You have to fix them as you find them.

Hello elf_esteem,

If you still haven't figured this out...
I had the same issue. I went to the XPS server, found the LabVIEW folder for it. Inside is the XPS Controller folder with subVI's.
I copied that into the user.lib folder of labview. Then i edit the subpallete and linked it to that directory. That is, I selected the folder inside user.lib.

If it still doesnt show up, right click the icon in the subpallete edit function and then link it to the directory again.
I think it matters where you are in explorer when you link it.

Cheers
