Hello,
Our team are about to start with our project and we have some concerns. We already have the NI 9502 and also the cRIO-9022 real time controller. Now, our concern are this:
1.) Can we use a third party motor? (not the AKM motor) and
2.) Can we use a diffrent power supply? (not the recommended NI PS-16, NI PS-15, NI PS-6)
As much as we want to use NI products, we can't, because we are kinda in a tight budget. Thanks you for your help!

Hello TheMechanic316,
I acutally looked through our forums for a similar question and found one that seems to match up well with your project. You do not need an AKM to interface with the 9502 but as stated below they are optimized for the 9502 hardware. The below information is from a separate forum post listed here. https://forums.ni.com/t5/Motion-Control-and-Motor-Drives/NI-9502-HELP/td-p/3358395
NI offers optimized motors especially for the NI 9502. On the webpage you can find this note to the motors:
The detailed specifications of these AKD brushless servo motors you can find in the manual.
Basically it should be possible to connect a 3rd party motor to the NI 9502. To ensure that you can drive your motor with the NI 9502, make sure that the following three Input/Output Characteristics matches up:
I hope this answers some of your questions!
