controlling stepper motor

Hi
I want to control a stepper motor and feedback from the encoder using NI PXI-7344 card.

stepper motor type: 86621-07B0
encoder: (Model No. VNB11-13P1)

the encoder feedback the binary output. so I want to know whether it is possible to control the
stepper motor with that card. If yes, are there any tutorials on how to program the card with labVIEW? The stepper motor look like an old design so are there drives available for my stepper motor.

Thanks!!

Hello 007129,

What exactly did you mean by 'binary' output? The PXI-7344 accepts quadrature, incremental and single-ended encoder inputs. Can you verify what type of encoder you have, and what type of output it has?

You can take a look at the available drives for stepper motors at this page : http://www.ni.com/devzone/advisors/motion/driveadvisor.htm. I am not too sure about the difference in design you were referring to, as I could not find any information from the 'type' number you posted. I hope this information helps.
