encoder protocols

Solved!
Go to solution

I never realized there were so many encoder serial protocols until I was tasked to investigate making some encoder test stands. The open protocols should not be a problem, but to service, repair and test encoders with closed protocols is going to take some work, if it can be done at all. Any suggestions? Do they make a "universal protocol analyzer" for encoders? Smiley Surprised

I am not sure what you are asking here.  What would you like to accomplish in the end here?

You will have to try to get the custom protocols from each manufacturer. I know Yaskawa publishes details about their protocol, even though it isn't a standard protocol

I kind of figured that out over the last few days. Some encoder manufacturers are embeddding all the encoder data in the serial line.
