following error on find_index

I have a stepper motor running in closed loop, and it moves just fine in NI-MAX - no following errors. However, when I try to do a flex_find_reference from code, the motor just twitches and the find fails.

In NI-MAX, I see the axis was killed due to a following error.

Any ideas on how to narrow this down?

Turns out I was using too fast a speed. I slowed it down and all was well.
