free-run motion

Hello,

In the past I have always used point to point moves or contouring with NI-Motion hardware & LabVIEW. Now I need to spin things continously and adjust the gearing on the fly. The question is how do I start a move that never ends?

Martin,

for endless moves you should run your axes in velocity mode. If you want to change the gearing on the fly please make sure that you use relative gearing mode. Absolute gearing mode could result in full torque jumps of the slave axis when switching the gear ratio.
