FlexMotion is for sure the best to use. It has better performance and is actually lower cost for what you get. The new 7334 board (for stepper motors) has more functionality than any of the ValueMotion stepper boards but is lower cost. FlexMotion also works with the new Motion Assistant where ValueMotion doesn't. Also, NI is trying to help people slowly migrate to FlexMotion by taking ValueMotion out of the catalog and posting a "ValueMotion to FlexMotion conversion" document on the web site. Hope that helps.

Flexmotion and Valuemotion are drivers for the motion control hardware. All current and future National Instruments motion controllers use the Flexmotion driver. The Valuemotion driver is only used by our legacy boards, such as the PC-Step, 7314, 7324, etc., which we no longer actively sell. Any new application would use the Flexmotion hardware and software. The 7334 is suitable for point-to-point moves with stepper motors, while the 7344 provides much more advanced features such as contouring, electronic gearing, and onboard programming, and supports stepper or servo systems.
