limit switches

I am currently trying to program limit switches using a cRIO with NI 9421 digital input to read the limit switchs and then using a NI 9472 to send output power to stepper motors.  I am having trouble programming them and wondering if there are any example programs that would be helpful or ideas on a better way approach this problem,
