motion driver start current problem

Hi all,

Recently I am using PXI-7340 to drive a motor. Everything is working fine. However every time I turn on the motion driver, it produce large current to the motor and the motor have significant movement, after that the motor start following my command. Is there a way to fix that? any advice?

Thanks!

Chi

Hello,

What kind of motor drive do you have? Manufacturer? Model number?

Hi Zach

The motor drive I am using is MID-7654/7652 from National Instrument.

Hello,

Thanks for the information. I don't feel as though this should happen with that particular drive so I will look into things and see what I can find.

Hello,

I'm still looking into things but wanted to get some additional information from you.

1) What type of motor do you have and have you properly tuned it?

2) If you disconnect the motion control card from the drive and then power off/power on the drive, does it still exhibit the same behavior? We're trying to isolate specific hardware components for what you're seeing.
