porting an motion application to 9.0f3

Hallo,

I am fairly new to Labview and got landed with the task to port an application from an older version of Labview ( LV8.6 on XP32) to LV9f3 on Win7.

Now the first thing that is puzzeling is that all the .flx files are all gone, for example "Reset Position.flx".

Now I did figure out that these files can be found in support libraries for older Labview versions for example under "C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\vi.lib\Motion\FlexMotion\FunctionsVIs\".

If I try to replace the old reference (which doesn't exist at the indicated location any more) with the new reference from

C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\vi.lib\Motion\FlexMotion\FunctionsVIs\Trajectory.llb

this triggers an entire cascade of dependency swaps. Somewhere in there I get pretty much lost about how to proceed...

Is these a tutorial / help / whatever that explains how to migrate from Lv8.6 to 9.0 with respect to motion control?

Regards

Hello,

Can you try to install LV 2009, in the XP machine (you can use an eval version), then try to save  examples you need in other directory, copy them to your 7 machine, and try to open it.

marauder16,

this sounds like all you haven't installed the NI-Motion driver software on your Win7 machine. Installing NI-Motion also installs the necessary libraries for LabVIEW 2009 and this should resolve the issue.

Kind regards,

Hi,

Checking if FlexMotion is still supported in LabVIEW 2012. I am about to help a customer upgrade an application using a PXI-7344 card.

Is NI-Motion sufficient to complete the upgrade?

Thanks,

Dan
