The first thing I'd like to recommend, if you're a LabVIEW programmer, is to use our Motion Control hardware. We offer motion controllers, motor drives, and integration devices for third party motor drives. With that said, a motor's peak current value is specific to each type of motor. Most motor drives allow you to step down their peak current output to match a motor's peak current. With stepper motors, the more current you provide, the stronger their holding torque. Usually, you want as much current as possible, but every motor has its max. Sanyo Denki should be able to tell you about their stepper motors' maximum current ratings.
