umi-7764 compax3 wiring

Hi,

I am trying to connect Compax3 I10T10 to UMI-7764. I will be using NI PCI-7342 motion card. can someone guide me on making connections, what goes from compax3  to where on the UMI-7764. Some kind of wiring diagram.

thanks

Hi srin,

When I open the manual for your dive all I can see is a bunch of dots.  I tried to find a manual for the drive on the internet but I could not find one.  I would suggest taking a look at this Knowledgebase about how to connect third party drives to the UMI-7764.  How Do I get the 73xx Controller and UMI-7764 to Drive a Third Party Stepper Motor?  It should help you to see how to connect your drive.

sorry,

here are the corrected files

the way my compax3 is configured, it has connections in the 1st column and 4th column from left.

X12 and X13 go to the motor. Basically X11 needs to be interfaced with  umi.

thanks

Hi srin,

Is this a stepper or servo motor drive?  Servo and stepper motors will require different control connections.

The encoder outputs (A, A NOT, B, B NOT, N, N NOT) on the Compax X11 can be connected to the Encoder terminal block of the UMI-7764 (see pages 6 and 7 of the UMI manual).

Hi srin,

Did you try what CXB recommended?  I believe this is what you will need to connect to X11 in order to get your system going.  If you tried it and had problems could you elaborate a little more on what happened when you tried?
