virtual motion device

Hi,

I just installed motion assistant and am going to use it without motion hardware.  I tried to add a virtual motion device by launching MAX, but when I expand Devices and Interfaces in the configuration tree, NI Motion Devices does not pop up.  Is there another way to add a virtual motion device?  The help menu also gave me the option of adding a virtual controller directly from NI Motion Assistant by selecting from a list, but the list does not appear.

Thanks!

Hello,

Do you have the NI-Motion driver installed? You can expand the software tab from the configuration tree in MAX to see if you do. It should show up as "NI-Motion". If not, download and install it here:

NI-Motion 7.6 - Windows 2000/Vista x64/Vista x86/XP
http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/845/lang/en

After installing NI-Motion, you should be able to right-click on Devices and Interfaces in MAX, and select Create New. This will bring up a menu listing your device options, and Virtual NI Motion Devices should be one of the categories. Select that category, and it should let you choose the type of virtual motion device you want to add.

Best Regards,

~Nate

Hello there,

I have a problem creating new device,

I choose Create new by right-clicking devices and interfaces, and then choose Virtual NI-Motion Devices, since the device i am trying to add is PCI-7344. when I choose 7344, it gives me error saying:
driver support has not been installed please rerun the NI-Motion Installer and enable "NI-73xx" Controller, I did this, but still the same problem exists .

Can you please help to fix this problem

Thank you

Dear ALiak,

Does the same thing happen when you try to add a different Virtual NI-Motion Device?

Can you add a different kind of virtual device for one of the other drivers you have installed? (If you have DAQmx, try to add a virtual DAQ card)

Do you have the most recent version of the NI-Motion Driver?

If you cannot add any Virtual NI-Motion Devices, but you can add other virtual devices, I would recommend uninstalling the NI-Motion driver completely, and then downloading and re-installing it. In your case it still seems like the driver is not installed correctly.

Best Regards,

~Nate
