6024E not recognized in Measuremente & Automation Explorer

Hi. I have a 6024E PCMCIA DAQCard and I inserted it in my laptop.
I installed it without problem, so that I can see it in "Device Manager" of Windows XP under "Data Acquisitio Devices".
But, when I open "Measurement & Automation Explorer" I cannot see it in the folder "Devices & Intefaces", therefore I cannot use it.
I tried to refresh but it doesn't work.
I tried to use the function "Create New", but it seems that there are no options for thi kind of card.
So, how can I solve this problem?

Thanks

Mattia,

Is there a yellow exclamation point on the DAQ card in the Device Manager? What version of the DAQ driver do you have? Have you restarted since installing the card? Please let us know a little more about your problem and I'd be more than happy to help you.

Hi,
I have the same problem. Let me start with the beginig:
- i used on this computer labview v7.1 with PCI 6024e installed with NI-DAQ 7. Windows is recognising the PCI device.
My application is made in labview 7.1, but later i found out that version labview7.1 is not compatible with NI-DAQ 7 so i cannot use my application with the pci daq
- i installed also labview 6.1 and everything was ok. i had all the subvi i needed, but my application did not start in labview 6.1
- because i do not have enough time to rewrite it in labview 6.1 i downloaded the ni-daq ver. 8.50 and install it over the other version.Windows still recognising the PCI DAQ, but before i was able to configure the DAQ in measurement and automation but now i cannot.
- now, trying to open Measurement&Automation i receive this error while opening Devices and Interfaces :

MAX Database Connection Error
There was a problem connecting to tthe database.
Please restart computer an contact NI if the problem persists.

The problem did persist and ... here I am.

So what can I do? Should I erase everything from the computer and install only labview 7.1 and NI-DAQ 8.50?? I really don't have time to rewrite the programm.
Please help asap.

Another thing i noticed:

In labview 6.1 i have (after installing ni-daq) new functions - like Data Aquisition and on the  front pannel aswell.
Now, in 7.1 the only new thing is signal analizer.
And now i can't even use labview 6.1 because i cannot configure new I/O ports in Measurement and Automation

Hi IronM,

You are correct that LabVIEW 7.1 is supported by NI-DAQmx 7.2 or later (NI-DAQ for Windows Support for Different LabVIEW Versions)

You are also noticing that once a VI is saved in a newer version of LabVIEW, it will not open in the older version. However, you can ‘save with options’ >> Save for Previous Version (from 7.1 to 7.0; 7.0 to 6.1) to revert code to older versions of LabVIEW if needed. Lastly, NI-DAQmx 8.5 will only support LabVIEW 7.1 or higher.

To directly answer your question, using LabVIEW 7.1 and DAQmx 8.5 should work. Having LabVIEW 6.1 installed should not matter, but in your case could be removed. It may also be worth re-installing DAQmx 8.5 to make sure that LabVIEW 7.1 support was installed.

Check to make sure that your card is found under ‘data acquisition devices’ in device manager, and then under ‘NI-DAQmx Devices’ in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX). After this, than go on to make sure that the DAQmx pallet shows in LabVIEW 7.1, indicating DAQmx support is installed for 7.1.

Thanks a lot David.
At least now I know it is possible. I think I overinstalled too many versions one on top of another:)
Today I uninstalled everyting and installed only labview 6.1 and Ni-Daq 7.0 and it works. I also did the conversion (damn, that 7.0 is hard to find:P) and now everything is ok.
I do not have the time now to try with 7.1 but i will. Thanks againg for answering.
