Any way to get PCIe-6251 drivers to work with Windows2003?

I just bought a PCIe-6251 to use the analog outputs for some power testing.  It works good with Windows XP, but I can't get the drivers to work with Windows 2003.  I know that server OS is not supported, but I have some customer HW (HDD controller) that only has drivers for Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 server.  I read another forum entry that someone got it to work on 2003 with an earlier version of NIDAQmx (entry included below).  I could not get this to work.  I will keep trying things as our customer basicly requires we run this test in 2003.

"I should mention that the recipe is:

1) remove all the NI cards from the system

2) go into the device manager and remove all the "Pci Devices" with the ?? next to them in "Other Devices".  There will probably be one per card, unless you have other PCI cards that aren't working

3) Install 8.0.1

4) Install the cards.  I did them one at a time.  I suggest doing them one at a time, just to control variables we doln't need to be messing with Smiley Happy

5) This will not work right out of the gate.  You have to go back into the device manager and remove the PCI device again.  THEN if you scan for new hardware changes, it will find it and load the NI driver.

Don't ask me why this is this flaky, but it does work, albeit it takes a bit of doing.

Hope this helps someone else.  I just pulled my hair out for the last two days trying to get this to work.

JB,

Thanks for posting on the NI Forums. I was able to find the same thread that you were talking about.  My only suggestion would be what another Engineer suggested on the same forum and disable Physical Address Extension in Windows and then try the below steps again.

The truth is that we did not design the driver for Windows 2003 and therefore can't guarantee that the driver will work at all with 2003. If it is absolutley necessary that you get the driver to work on 2003 you should try the above suggestion and then run through the steps again. Thanks!
