Can I run 3 AMUX-64T boards rather than the 1,2 or 4 boards specified ?

We wish to use three AMUX-64T boards to provide 192 channels of seismic data . The manual shows set ups for 1, 2 or 4 boards. Will we run into problems by operating only three boards.

Hi Spudnik,

Unfortunately, there is no documentation on using 3 AMUX-64T boards.  There was a Corrective Action Request (CAR) that was filed about 9 years ago where another customer wanted to do the same thing and it seems the issue has yet to be resolved.

One recommendation would be to set up the system for 4 boards and only use the first three. However, it is hard to say whether or not the dip switches would be configured correctly to set up those channels for three boards.

Sorry for the lack of information but hopefully there will be more information on this soon!

Hi Spudnik,

I found out some additional information for you about the AMUX-64T boards.  Using 3 AMUX-64T boards is not a valid configuration.  The number of channels must be a power of 2.  It is not officially supported, however you could probably get away with only using three by setting up 4 boards and then throwing away any bad/unused data.  This is something you could try.  Sorry for the delay in the response and hopefully this information is helpful!
