Can I use PFI lines for DIO in C# using DAQmx?

I haven't found a difinitive solution for this yet. I have all these free PFI lines. I know how to use them as input triggers (rising & falling edge detection), but I'd like to use them as general-purpose DIO lines (i.e read the current value, write a 1 or a 0 to it).

Is this possible? I'm using a 6052E.

You cannot use PFI lines for DIO on an E series card. Please refer to the following KnowledgeBase for more information.

Perfect - that explains why people here disagreed - they probably worked with different cards in the past.
