Change MAX task to another device

Is there a way to change all the channels in a task to a different device? I set up my task on one computer, then I had to move that task to another computer. I exported the MAX configuration for that task and plugged the daq into the second computer. Then when I import the task, it forces me to create a simulated device. It's the exact same daq with all the same modules in the same places. I just unplugged the USB cable from one computer and put it in the other. But for some reason, under warnings and conflicts of the import wizard, it always says "create simulated device" and I can't find a way to change that. So I end up with a simulated device identical to my real device called device2 instead of device1. Is there a way to get it to import to the real device instead of a simulated one? Or is there a better way to change all the channels over to the real device than manually changing the physical channel location for each channel individually?

Hi Drhoff,

Do you connect the device before you try to import the task? If you don't have the device connected (be sure to also make it the same Dev# as in the original configuration), then it will force create a simulated device. Can you also tell me which version of MAX you are using? You can download the latest version here http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/3667/lang/en . Regards

Hey DrHoff,

I just wanted to let you know I tried to reproduce your issue with MAX 5.4. When I went to import the task on another PC with the device plugged in, it gave me a drop down to allow me to either create a simulated device or use the original daq device. Please try the latest version of MAX and let me know if you're still running into issues. Thanks
