Current measurement using NI 9203

Solved!
Go to solution

I am attempting to measure a 4-20 mA output from a flow meter. I am trying to use DAQmx, and in DAQmx-create channel, there is an option of shunt location. Do I have to specify this parameter if I am using NI 9203?

Thanks!

You do not have to specify a shunt resistor location for the NI 9203.  If you do specify one, choose "default" or "internal".  The "external" option is for configuring a voltage device (the NI 9205, for example) and connecting an external resistor.  You would read the voltage across the resistor and DAQmx would return data in amps and do the math for you.
