DAQ 6009 "System cannot find the file specified." when installing on Windows XP

Hello all-

I've recently acquired a pair of NI-USB 6009 DAQ devices and I'm trying to connect them to my laptop with LabView 8.0

I downloaded the NI DAQmx 8.3.1 installer zip, but I left my device plugged in while installing.

After installation and reboot, whenever I attach the device, windows detects the new hardware, identifies the "NI USB-6009", gets to the final installation screen, and cannot install the hardware, citing "The system cannot find the file specified."

Then, windows detects "NI USB-6xxx Firmware Loader" , and the same situation ensues.

Finally, the NI Device Monitor pops up asking me what I want to do.

My device does not have a blinking light, and it does work on another setup with the same installation files.

I assume I've somehow ruined my DAQmx installation, but a repair did not fix the problem. What do I need to remove, and are the driver files cached somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Ken,

Could you go to the Windows Device Manager and find your USB devices there. Right click on them and select uninstall. Make sure that the devices are unplugged when you do this. Once you have uninstalled them from the Windows Device Manager, restart the computer and then plug the devices in. Let Windows automatically find the drivers for your devices and install them.

If this does not solve the issue then go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and find National Instruments Software and select "change". Find "NI-DAQmx" and repair that. If a repair does not work then uninstall it completely and install it again from scratch.
