Hi Karhvac,
It looks like you might have an error with the installation of you DAQ driver. Most likely a file in your LabVIEW or DAQmx install has become corrupted and is causing LabVIEW to crash. First, attempt to repair your LabVIEW and DAQmx software. This can be done by going to Control Panel and then Add or Remove Programs screen. Scroll down and select the Change/Remove button next to National Instruments Software. This will bring up a list of all of the installed NI software that is on your computer. Highlight LabVIEW 8.0 and DAQmx 8.6 software and choose to repair. During this process the installer will ask for the LabVIEW CDs as well as locations of any installers that were downloaded to your hard drive.
When you say that LabVIEW crashes, does the program just close, or is there an error that comes up? When you restart LabVIEW again after the crash, do you get an internal error message? If an internal error has occurred, you should be able to set up a prompt to investigate those errors. You can select Tools»Options»Debugging»Prompt to investigate internal errors on startup.
Please let me know if any of these suggestions are helpful!

Vanessa L.,
Thanks for the response.
I have yet to do the repairs until I can establish repeatability with the error. If I can no longer successfully repeat the error I will not have confidence that the error is fixed. I do not want the error to reappear in the middle of a project.
I have noticed that if I start with a blank vi and add the Express DAQ Assistant the error does not occur.
I did have one vi with only the Express DAQ Assistant and a Waveform Graph indicator that would consistently crash Labview when attempting to edit the properties of the Express DAQ Assistant. The option to “Prompt to investigate internal errors on startup” has been enabled, but there is no mention of the error when restarting Labview. The Error is logged in the event log as:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 11/9/2007
Time: 7:42:19 AM
User: N/A
Description:
Faulting application labview.exe, version 8.0.0.4005, stamp 434ee05b, faulting module labview.exe, version 8.0.0.4005, stamp 434ee05b, debug? 0, fault address 0x00278ec6.
After experimenting with the blank vi and only the Express DAQ Assistant vi, I have not been able to get the error to repeat. The problem appears to be resolved, but I do not know what changed to resolve the errors.

A repair of Labview 8.0 and DAQmx as mention did not resolve the issue of the labview application crashing when attempting to edit properties of a DAQ Express vi.

Hi Karhvac,
Instead of just repairing the installation, you might need to uninstall all National Instruments software and reinstall. I know you had said before that this problem was not consistent. Are you still getting those results? This discussion forum post seems to be related to the same issue. You might want to look through these suggestions and see if it could fix your problem. As the post says, we recommend installing software in a specific order. Specifically, you will need to reinstall LabVIEW first and then the DAQmx driver. If you do not have the newest version (8.6) of the DAQmx driver, we also recommend upgrading. The download of this software is located here. Thanks!
