Hey everyone.
I have a PXIe 1078-chassis with a PXIe 8820 EC, and using a PXIe 6366 DAQ card with a BNC-2110 connector block.
I have various equipment connected to it, and whenever I take readings, I always find a 40kHz peak in the FFT of my signal, along with its 2 harmonics at 80 and 120 kHz. I tried connecting, disconnecting, and turning off the other equipment to no avail.
I tried the same with a USB X Series 6363 and I got the same result even before connecting any equipment, except for 2 wires connected to the AI0 ports. Interestingly, the frequency disappeared when those wires were removed. So my guess is it's some noise being picked up from the surroundings by the connecting cables.
