DAQPAD-6016 Analog output offset

I am having trouble understanding the accuracy specifications of this unit. It says that the "Absolute Accuracy Offset in uV" is 2,461. This seems like an awfully strange number, but I have found that for my unit, my offset is just about exactly minus this. So, I try to put out 40mV and I get 37.7mV (DC).

Is this offset consistent? Ie., can I just add 0.002461mV to the number I am attempting to output? Or, is it sometimes positive, sometimes negative, etc.?

Thanks for the help.

Hey,

I you are seeing that offset al the time you can take care it in software, but if the accuracy specification says that absolute accuracy offset is 2.46mV, it  will be consistent.

cheers

The specification says 2461uV, but I am seeing about NEGATIVE 2300uV. My question is am I guaranteed that I will always see this and will it always be negative. If so, I can compensate in software. If not, I can't.

Hello Slight,

The absolute accuracy offset specification is a bounds on the kind of offset that you should expect, but it is not meant to be the exact value. You can try compensating for it in software, but be advised that the true offset will vary based on temperature, the tie since the last calibration, and other such factors.

You may be able to decrease the offset you are seeing by performing a self-calibration on your device. You can do this in MAX.
