DAQmx 8.7

What happened to version 8.7 of DAQmx? It's no longer listed as a download. We intalled 8.7 a couple of weeks ago and just distributed a new version of our program with 8.7 (along with an upgrade to code built with LabVIEW 8.5). Was there bugs discovered and the download pulled? Will we have to upgrade our clients once again?

Hi Dennis,

I heard that Labview 8.5.1 was being held back until ~March 5 for offical release ( downloadable  from NI).  So I resisted urge to upgrade DAQmx 8.7 until
all the releases were avaliable.

I suspect your questions hits close to the truth.

Dennis,

We recently discovered that if a NI USB-621x bus-powered multifunction USB DAQ device is controlled using NI-DAQmx 8.7, analog output channel ao0 may generate unexpected values.  We take incorrect generation very seriously and therefore pulled the driver from the web.  If your application does not use one of these USB-621x devices NI-DAQmx 8.7 is fine to use.  We will shortly release NI-DAQmx 8.7.1 that will fix this problem.

We will also proactively contact customers who downloaded the driver.  We have not finalized the list of customers that downloaded it but are in the process of doing so and should send a notification letter shortly.  Please accept our apology for the inconvenience. National Instruments is committed to your satisfaction and to maintaining your confidence in our products.

If you are not using on the bus-powered M-Series devices in your application and need another copy of NI-DAQmx 8.7 before we can release NI-DAQmx 8.7.1 call support and they can help you out.  If the AE has questions you can refer them to this forum post and they can come talk to me.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Neil,

That's very good news. I don't use the USB-621x. We're just finishing beta testing of a new release and I built it with 8.7 and are getting ready to deploy to several hundred test stations. I really did not want to restart beta and further delay the deployment.

Thanks

Well, could someone confirm that my problems described here are not related to a bug with these drivers, please. It's not easy for me to switch back to 8.6.
Thank you very much.

The bug reported in NI-DAQmx 8.7 was only for the NI USB-621x bus-powered multifunction USB DAQ devices, and should not have affected your externally powered NI USB-6259. The bug has been fixed in NI-DAQmx 8.7.1, which can now be downloaded from this link.

Specifically NI-DAQmx 8.7.1 resolves an issue with unexpected analog output values on the NI USB-6211, NI USB-6212, NI USB-6216, NI USB-6215, and NI USB-6218 devices. It is unlikely that downloading the fix will resolve the issue described in your other post, but it wouldn’t hurt to go ahead and downloaded the fix.
