DAQmx for XP Embedded

A colleague is attempting to install DAQmx on a windows XP embedded pc. The program was written with DAQmx 9.1 and the USB6008. The runtime 5 was selected to be installed. The install goes smoothly but as soon as the USB6008 is plugged in, there are prompts to find niewmrkw.sys and usb6xxxkw.sys. The files can be found and after pointing to them, the program works just fine. I found this post related to the niewmrkw.sys file and Run-Time 8.7.1 for Windows Embedded. I can't find either one of these files on my Vista OS. Are these unique to XP Embedded? Is there any way to avoid the prompt to find the files?

Thanks in advance

Hi Dennis-

Those files are part of a WHQL-signed driver package that ships with DAQmx.  They should initially be installed in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\staging and C:\Windows\system32\DRVSTORE\niemxpS<...>.  When a device is inserted, they are copied to C:\Windows\system32\drivers.

I assume that your colleague is able to then locate those files in system32\drivers?  Can you confirm whether the driver packages appear in the other two locations?  If the files are missing from any of those locations, it is possible that a problem occurred during the installation.  Please ask your colleague to re-run installer (preferably on a clean machine) and post the results of 'setup.exe /log setupLog.txt'

Thanks-

My colleague posted the question himself. I've been able to create an installer on my XP oc and everything seems to work just fine though I cheated a bit and placed the two files in the windows folder just to be sure they could be found. His system is XP 64 and we are lookig to see if somehow his installer is using the 64 bit versions.

Hey Dennis-

I don't want to leave this hanging if there is still an issue, but it appears that both users in the 'other' thread are now up and running.  If you or your colleague still needs assistance, please let me know.
