DAQmx lockup when creating/saving new AI task

Hi,
S/W config: LabVIEW 8.2 on XP, NI-DAQmx 8.3.0f0
H/W config: NI PCI-6229 "Dev1" (simulated device)

Problem is that upon creating a new AI task (from within MAX or from NI-DAQmx->DAQ Assistant VI inside LabVIEW), I can select from the available AI channels on the 6229. I select ai0 and ai1, then click 'Finish' ('Next' is not enabled). Result is popup error dialog (no title) with text "LabVIEW: An exception occurred within the external code called by a Call Library Node. This might have corrupted LabVIEW's memory. Save any work to a new location and restart LabVIEW. VI "BlockletContainerState 6.vi" was stopped at node 0xA10 of subVI "DAQmxAssistant_DAQmx Create AI Channel (sub).vi". When I dismiss this dialog ('OK'), the NI-DAQ dialog never recovers and I have to (xp task manager) end task.

I can create AO, DI, and DO tasks fine - only the AI tasks give me the problem.

Suggestions/more info needed?
Thanks,
Brian

Hello Brian,

It sounds like there is something wrong with your installation of the NI-DAQmx driver.  I would recommend trying to reinstall the driver.  First, uninstall it using the standard Windows Add/Remove Programs dialog.  Then you can download and install the newest version of NI-DAQmx, 8.3.1, from the Drivers and Updates section of ni.com.

If this doesn't help, please create a service request on the web so that we can troubleshoot the issue further.

Best regards,
