Digital output of NI9219 for switching

Hello,

My group and I have just recieved a NI WLS-9163 along with an NI 9219. The 9129 has 4 different inputs. We have 6-8 analog sensors we would like to sample. We were planning on getting around this by MUX'ing the the inputs. If we could have the 9129 output a 0 to the mux to read the first 4 set of sensors, then have the 9129 output a 1 to the mux to read the next four sensors, we would be able to sample all 8 sensors back and forth, and we would know which sensor we are looking at based on what the 9129 is outputting. My question is, is there a way to output a 0 or 1 so we can switch the mux and know which set of sensors we are looking at, or is there any other solution we can use with this device so we can read 8 sensors.

Thank You

Hi Jacob,

The 9219 only does input, so it is not possible to output a 1 or 0 to MUX. One option would be to simply get 2 9219s.  However you could also use a switch module to accomplish this.  You would need one 9485(which requires a chassis), or you could get 2 9481s (which run with USB or wireless). You could then configure these 2 9481 such that two channels of the 9481 are connected to one of the 9219 analog inputs.  If you are looking to use the wireless 9481s, I would weigh the decision heavily with the fact that buying another 9219 would allow you to avoid the whole switching issue for about $200 (the difference between one 9219 and two wireless 9481s.) Please let me know if you have more questions about this!
