E series DAQ Card not responding to 1st IRQ level PCMCIA

I have recently changed laptop to a Dell Latitude E6410 with a core i5 processor running XP with latest BIOS update and the latest version of Ni-DAQmx 9.2. and I want to transfer the NI DAQCard 6024E PCMCIA card over, however when I come to test the card in 'Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) Devices'  I get a message saying that the device is not responding to the first IRQ level. Though if I test the device using the test panel and self test under 'NI DAQCard-6024E' it seems to respond correctly.

We've been seeing issues with the Dell Latitude E6410 and using PCMCIA cards.  The laptop does not properly allocate IO addresses below a certain value.  This has been seen with a lot of PCMCIA cards from various manufacturers.

 

The behavior we typically see on our cards is that On Demand timing will work correctly, but hardware timing will not.

 

Sadly, until Dell releases updated driver support or a BIOS fix, there isn't much we can do.

As far as you know, is this problem isolated to the E6410, or does it extend to any other models in Dell's Latitude E-Series or Precision lineups?

Thanks for the reply John

Sadly this fix hasn't sorted the problem and im still getting the same error message statig that the IRQ level not responding.

I noticed however that the post says that some people have got them to work correctly in Windows 7. Does this mean that if I change my OS to windows 7, that the machine may recognise the card properly and it will perform as it should?

Hi SFPServices,

If you are able to upgrade to Windows 7 then it would be a good idea to do so.

Might be good idea to try the card on another system first to make sure the card is working correctly.
