Hi,
I have NI PCIe 6251 DAQ card(on windows XP professional 2002 Sp3 machine/ Labview8.5/DAQmx 9.5 driver) which was working perfectly fine until a year and half ago. Now If I try to do self-test, self-caliberation in MAX, I get an ERROR:50101 saying "Driver failed to communicate with Dev1".
And I can also see my device under "Devices and interfaces" in MAX. also found it under "Data Acquision devices" using Device Manager in windows. So wondering where the problem is?

PCIe,
Sounds like you could have a hardware failure. I would try the normal things, restart machine, try in a different PCIe slot, try in a different machine to see if you get the same behavior. If so, I would say your hardware is damaged. Call NI support and they can give you details / pricing on getting it fixed.

Thanks Aron!!
Actually I just tried in a different Machine (Windows7/64bit/Labview10/DAQmx9.8.5) and I could see the exact same behaviour as with WindowsXP machine. And I also tried reinstalling the DAQmx9.8.5 device drivers in Windows7 machine. Still same error.
btw how could you check whether drivers (detailed steps are appreciated) are properly installed before coming to a conclusion that device is damaged.
Thanks

I really doubt it's the driver, just from the error it gave you. You could try another piece of hardware if you have it and see if that works. You might also try simulating a DAQmx device, but I'm not completely sure how much "functionality" that will test out.
If you have two machines that show the same behavior I'm guessing it's your card.

Thanks!!!
May be I should try using "simulating DAQmx device" first because I dont have any other DAQ card as of now. If it works fine that means there is no problem with the driver. Keep updating

If DAQmx is intalled properly, it will appear under the softwares sub-menu as NI-DAQmx Device Drivers . Since you have tried in another PC, it must be a card issue. Just send the card to NI for testing .

Thanks Temin and Aaron!!
Yes It did appear under "softwares' in MAX. I also simulated NI PCIe-6251 card using "Simulate DAQmx devices" option in MAX and tried self test on both devices but acutal device failed on self-test and simulated devices successfully passed the self test.
Do you guys still have any suggesitions for me to try on before I come to a conclusion that device is damaged.
