I'm currently using a few 9234 modules with the 9172 to get analogue voltage signals, and would now like these data to be GPS-timestamped as/before they are read into LABView. What would be the recommendation to do this? I have on hand a
GPS with a RS232 serial interface, and was wondering if there's a convenient way to interface it with the 9172.
Or would I be better off trying to get GPS data directly into LABView via a serial/USB port, then timestamp my other signals in the VI?

Hi chee wee,
There is no way for your cDAQ-9172 to input your GPS timestamp. The chassis has no serial interface. There is a RS232 C Series module but it is not supported in the cDAQ-9172 chassis.
The chassis itself also has no concept of time. It would not be able to apply GPS timestamps to analog input data.
What sort of resolution are you looking for? Just the 1s resolution provided by GPS? If so, then using a USB serial port to read the timestamps and applying that to your AI data is probably good enough. Using your system time might be good enough in that case too.
