Help with PCI 6036E Labview 6.0 and Matlab R14

Hello,

I am trying to get a PCI 6036E card to work using NI-DAQ 7.0 and LabView 6.0 in Windows XP and have several questions.

1. Is this even possible? I installed NI-DAQ 7.0, installed and recognized the card, but then labview was unable to locate the device. Is it possible to set up LabView 6.0 with NI-DAQ 7.0 in Windows XP?

2. I tried using NI-DAQ 6.9.3 along with LabView 6.0 and LabView successfully loaded all the options in the functions palette related to analog input and output. However, the driver did not appear to support the PCI 6036E in windows XP. Does anyone know NI-DAQ 6.9.3 can be used with a PCI 6036E in windows XP?

3. I also tried using NI-DAQ 7.0, the same card, and Matlab R14. However, I got a blue screen crash error when the acquistion was started. Does anybody have any insight into this?

Any sort of advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hello ken380,

Thanks for your posts and questions. I would first like to show you this link that lists the versions of DAQmx and Traditional-DAQ for specific versions of LabVIEW.

NI-DAQ & LabVIEW Version Compatibility (for Windows)

So it looks like your combination of the LabVIEW 6.0 and NI-Traditional DAQ 7.0 is compatible. The PCI- 6036E is supported by both the T-DAQ 7.0 and 6.93 drivers. Please see the NI-DAQ 6.9.3 readme file. I see that you are seeing some problems when trying to use the 6036E in LabVIEW. What errors are you seeing when trying to use the device? Can you use one the example programs that ship with LabVIEW? To get to these examples go to Help >> Example Programs

To be honest I do not know much about using 3rd party software to control our daq boards. I feel like you would need to know if the specific DAQ driver is supported in the version of the 3rd party software you are using. You may have to contact your software vender to see if you can use the DAQ driver with this software. Let us know what problems you are seeing with your 6036E in LabVIEW so we can get you up and running!

Cheers!
