Hi Geoff,
The Compatibility VI's do work but they may be using functionality that you do not have available on your USB 6009. I would advise you to make the transition to DAQmx. My suggestion to you is to edit/modify an example program that does what you are intending. You can find the example VI's in the Example finder in LabVIEW. You can search by keyword or go to the browse tab and choose Hardware Input and Output >> DAQmx. 
I also find this NI Developer Zone article to be helpful to those transitioning from Traditional DAQ to DAQmx.

I'm using labview 2010. In the old labview versions "AO single Update.vi" was used. I want to know the equivalent of this for my labview version.
