How to use the 6008USB on XP Embedded?

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi there!

I'm currently trying to get the "NI USB-6008 OEM" to work on Windows XP Embedded. Since the embedded PC has only limited disk space available I installed the "NI-DAQmx 9.3 Core" package.

Now the following happens: I connect the NI USB-6008 OEM to the embedded PC via USB. Now the device gets listed in the Windows device manager. But as you can see below there's a yellow exclaimation mark, indicating something is wrong with the device/its driver.

Did I miss something when installing the driver? Did I install a wrong package? Is there anything else to take into consideration when using a NI USB-6008 OEM on XP embedded?

With best regards,

Boris

Have you tried the DAQmx 8.7.1 runtime for XP Embedded? To my knowledge this is the only version for which we've explicitly released XP Embedded support for.

Hi bstreiff!

As far as I can see the package you refer to is used WHEN CREATING an XP embedded Image? What I need is something I can install on an existing image.

Thanks,

Boris

Hm. That download page does say that 'Developers with targets that already have XPe deployed may be able to install the standard DAQmx Runtime 5.' Perhaps try installing the full version of DAQmx 8.7.1, or if you want a smaller footprint, Runtime 3 or Runtime 5?

According to this customer post a customer has had some success with 9.0.2, but they had to manually point Windows at the driver in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\staging\niem. You may wish to try that on your current installation of 9.3.

Manually picking the files from the location you suggested did the job. Thank you!
