How to wire a Fluid Components International ST75 flow meter to DAQ System?

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I'm trying to wire a ST75 flow meter to my DAQ system which consists of a PCI 6052E DAQ device, a SCXI 1102B card, and a SCXI 1300 terminal block. The 1102B has four 249 Ohm resistors connected to channels 0-3 for use with the current signals from the flow meter.

The flow meter has two 4-20 mA output signals, and RTN, SINK, SOURCE, and COM connections. The documentation isn't clear how to connect the sensor to the terminal block, other than saying if both output signals are used, one RTN lead is used. So far, I cannot get the flow meter signal to work in LabView, so I'm not sure if I have it wired correctly. Currently I have OUTPUT 1 wired to CH2 + on the terminal block, with CH2 - wired to the chassis ground terminal and to the COM lead on the sensor.

Thanks in advance.

Toward the end of the manual there are wiring diagrams:

http://www.fluidcomponents.com/Industrial/Library/manuals/Flowmeters/ST50,%20ST51,%20ST75%20Guides%2...

SINK/SOURCE/COM are used for pulse ouptuts. It looks like there are two 4-20mA ouputs- one for temperature the other for flow.

Use the one you need (flow) in conjnction with RTN wired to the + and - (or COM) of your DAQ device.
