I have a problem taking the temperature readings using LabVIEW with my SCB 68 with thermocouples. I am using PCI 6229.

When I configure the thermocouples and place them on the table in my room, they are working perfect, showing the room temperature. I am happy.

But when I touch the thermocouple the values are erroneous. That is, when I move or disturb the thermocouple it is giving our erroneous results. Like showing 50000 or -100000 degree Celsius.

Why is this? I need to put this thermocouple on my small engine surface which disturbs it obviously when I move it from the table to the engine.

Why is that very sensitive to movement?

I used different types of thermocoples.

hgottipati,

Have you tried to checking the voltage coming out of these thermocouples when you move them?  That will help us determine if it is a problem with the thermocouples or a connection/software problem.  How are you connecting these thermocouples to the SCB68 which pins, are you using thermocouple wire etc?

This isn't a normal problem for thermocouples.

Hi

thanks for the reply. After a few trials now I could able to get some respectable readings even if i disturb it.
