I need the NIDAQ872f1 driver to install it on a non-internet capable computer.

Hello,

 

I have a PCI-MIO-16XE-10 card running on a XP computer. When I start LabVIEW 7.1, I immediately get an error 10401 message. Under MAX, the card shows as present but there is a little red "x" under the icon and the "Self-Test, Test Panels, Reset Device, and Configure TEDS" options are greyed out. Under properties, the RTSI cable box shows "none" and the accessory box shows "none" as well.

 

I was hoping that reloading the drivers would do it for me but the links to download the drivers off NI's web site won't help me since as the subject states, this is on a non-internet capable machine. It's located off site from my company's location and a fair distance away. Can I get the drivers elsewhere or by some other means?

THanks for the post and I hope your well today!

 

If you cant get to the internet to download it a CD, then I would recommend contacting your local NI branch or local Sales rep how can arrange a CD with the driver being sent to you.

 

The card having a cross means the card isn't present - but if you dont have the correct driver then this would explain it. Make sure you get the version that supports the card, labview 7 and XP!

 

As for the error - I will look into it and get back to you tomorrow.

 

Do you have any other details or updates?

Thanks for replying.

 

The only other thing I can think to add is that, this Daq system has been in operation for at least 3 years and this is the first time this error message has come up.

 

Our resident DAG is due to come up and take a look at it next week but I'd still be interested in what you'd have to add.

Hi,

 

The reason you receive the unknown device error (-10401) is because LabVIEW obtains all of its hardware handles when it first launches. Therefore if your device was not present or completely installed the instant LabVIEW obtained the handles to the hardware it would return an error. In the case of the PCI devices, it is possible to boot LabVIEW before Measurement and Automation has finished installing the device. Similarly, any USB device installed after LabVIEW has been opened will not be represented in LabVIEW.

All you have to do to correct this problem is close your program, exit LabVIEW, and relaunch LabVIEW after the hardware has been completely installed.

Another possible reason you might be encountering this error is because you are attempting to use Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) Driver functions to communicate with your DAQ device, but the drivers need to be reset to use the device. To reset the drivers for Traditional NI-DAQ, open Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) and go to "Devices and Interfaces", then right-click "Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) Devices" and select "Reset driver for Traditional NI-DAQ." Keep in mind that this is only if you are using the Traditional NI-DAQ drivers. If you want to use the NI-DAQmx drivers with your DAQ device instead, right-click the device under "NI-DAQmx Devices" and select "Reset Device."

 

Certainly seems like the card may be damaged - can you test it in another machine? Or do you have another card to try?

Yes, it sounds like the card is damaged. We'll get another one next week and verify.

Update,

 

Well, our DAG showed up and started up with the basics. When he turned the machine on, it just booted up with no issues. There were no error messages and the daq ran just like it had a few days ago. What gives?

 

He came prepared with a spare card so, we're ready in case it happens again.

Hi,

 

Thanks for the post. Im glad you've resolved the issue.

 

IT must have been along the lines of closing labVIEW after connection a device. A drive must have been installed which required a rebot.
