Invalid location for "NI LabVIEW 8.5.1" durimg installer building

I am building an installer. In a minute or so I get a message that I need to place the LV8.5.1 CD in my CD drive. Whe I do that I get this message:
Invalid location for "NI LabVIEW 8.5.1"

It wants to find the CD in drive 😧 but it is in drive E:. When I navigate to drive E: it still gives me the same message.

In desperation I changed the drive letter of my CD drive to D:.

Now it wants to find the CD in drive E:!

WHAT???? I am getting paranoid here.

Any ideas anyone?

Thank you for contacting National Instruments! I have seen this behavior a few times in the past and there are a few things that we need to double check before determining the solution. First of all, what are you trying to include in the installer that you are building? Usually the reason for this behavior is that the install files were initially installed from the D drive and so that is the location that it is looking for it. Did you initially install from a network drive or have a second cd or DVD drive? If so, are you able to point the installer builder to the location where you initially installed the files?  Usually this behavior occurs when a customer installs LabVIEW using the DVD but then tries to build the installer and puts in the CD.  Even though they are both contain LabVIEW install files it is looking for the exact same files that it used during the initial install.  If we are able to point this installer to the correct distribution then this behavior should be avoided.  As long as you check the "cache components of this distribution" box after selecting the distribution, then you will not run into this error again.  Please let me know if this does not solve your issue and I will be happy to help find a solution that works for you.  I hope this helps!  Have a great day!

I did connect an external DVD drive as drive E:

After this the installation build worked.

It pulled some files from DVD drive E: (LV8.5.1 ) and some from the CD drive 😧 (Device Driver Reference).

i have this same trouble, i installed labview and vision development module from the cd and im trying to create the installer from Developer Suite DVD, is there a workaround that i can use here??

Or there is nothing i can do?

connecting an external drive was the only work around i found. It worked for me...

Are you running into the exact same issue where it is trying to point to a different drive for the install?  If so then you should be able to solve the issue in a similar fashion.  However, if you issue is a similar error but different configuration please give us more information about your situation so we can work with you in order to get your system up and running.  Also, please read through my previous post as there is a lot of good information that will help troubleshoot this issue.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Have a great day!
