Is 5B used as input for E-Series only?

As I look at the 5B descriptions I see that input signals are connected directly to E-Series devices; should I consider a different signal conditioning solution for other DAQ devices?  I do not demand much in terms of signal conditioning and 5B looks like it will work great but I would like a DAQ device that can be connected via USB.

Hello Dave,

If you are looking for USB signal conditioning/DAQ devices I would recommend using CompactDAQ.  CompactDAQ is an easy to use modular DAQ device that has signal conditioning modules and is connected through USB.  You can learn more about CompactDAQ at this website.

Another possible USB signal conditioning option would be to use the SCXI platform with a SCXI-1600 USB Module. 

The 5B product line may still be a good option for you depending on your test setup.  Be aware that it is a legacy device and it is designed to be used with E-Series cards.  It can be used with other DAQ cards, such as the M-Series.  But I would recommend using either CompactDAQ or SCXI unless price is a big issue for you.
