KB969238 hotfix (Knowledge base 5F8IA72I) issues - mouse freezes during continuous scan

Hi there,

since DAQmx 9.3.0 there is a notification inside MAX when you use USB based DAQ-Devices under Windows XP which refers to Knowledge base article 5F8IA72I: To avoid potential bulk transfer problems you should install hotfix KB969238 from Microsoft.

I did so (Win XP SP3, LabVIEW 2011f2, DAQmx 9.4.0f1, cDAQ-9178 with 9474, 9472, 9411, 9221, 9201, 9263), but when I perform a continuous correlated scan over some analog inputs and an encoder input (i.e. two digital inputs on the 9411 where a Heidenhain angular encoder is connected to), I realize that my mouse (wireless USB logitech devices "Anywhere MX" and "VX nano" on two PCs, each using the Logitech SetPoint driver) hangs in irregular intervals for one or two seconds. This problem disappears when I remove this hotfix.

I reinstalled the mouse driver - no change.

Any ideas to fix this?

Best regards,

cpschnuffel

Hi cpsschnuffel,

we don´t have any infos which relates the Windows Hotfix with such an issue.

Have you tried to ask the MS support?

Can you perform the acquisition correctly without the hotfix?

Best regards

Hi Andrea,

yes, data acquisition works fine without hotfix, no problems at all. And no, I haven't tried out the MS support yet. It wouldn't bother me if this note wouldn't appear, because my customer I write this software for will under garantuee ask me about that, and of course my wish is to avoid these questions, because there are no data acquisition problems. Is there any chance to suppress this note without having to install the hotfix?

Hi cpschnuffel,

unfortunately it is not possible to deactivate the notifiction.

MAx coming with a DAqmx version previous to 9.2 wouldn´t show it but on the other side you need to work with Lv 2011.. and 9.4 supports it.

I would sincerly ask MS Support if the you have any infos about it.

Could you reproduce the issue also on other PCs?Or just on one particular one?

Best regards

Until now I tested it only on one PC, but during implementation I will install it on another PC and give you a feedback.
