Every few days our program stops. An error message says "LabVIEW 8.5.1 Development System has stopped working". Clicking on the error box closes LabVIEW. The program sometimes runs as long as a week without problem, but this error comes up from time to time. The attached Word file has a screen capture showing the error message.
How can we find the cause of the problem?

Hi Hoard,
Is this error reproducible, or does it happen seemingly randomly every few days with no common element between error occurrences? Also, are you using Vista 64-bit or 32-bit and do you have a service pack?

As far as I know it is random. It has always happened while the system was running unattended. We are running 32-bit Vista. I am not certain about the service pack but we are up to date with Microsoft updates so we should have the latest (I am away from the office so I can't check directly).

Hi Hoard,
Is there a crash log associated with this error? Since this is not reproducible, it is difficult to investigate the issue, and it does not seem to be a common problem with a known solution.
One thing to try is to repair your installation of LabVIEW. See this document on Repairing NI Software for information on how to do this.
