Labview can't see my DAQ card

Hi, my lab just purchased Labview 7 and a PCI-6602 counter/timer board. The MAX sees my card and I can collect data through it (hooked up a function generator to the board and used simple photon counting to get the number of counts). However, labview does not see the card; tells me I have no devices installed. I've reinstalled everything several times over on two separate machines. Does anyone have a clue why Labview is blind to my card?

Thanks,
Katie

Hi Katie

I asume that you're trying to use the DAQ Assistant, isn't it? The problem is that your board is not supported by NI-DAQmx, so you can't use the DAQ Assistant to program it. You must use the Traditional NI-DAQ VI's to program your board. If you open MAX, then you'll see your board "only" under "Traditional NI-DAQ Devices" and not under "NI-DAQmx devices".
Open the "Example Finder" in LV and browse to Hardware Input and Output>>Traditional DAQ>>Counters>>NI-TIO. You'll find some examples for the 6602 board.

Hope this helps.

Luca
