Longer SHC68-68M Cable availability

Greetings

Every time I use one of the DAQ boards that uses the 68 Pin D connector I encounter the problem that mating bulkhead connectors for the SHC68-68-EPM cables are not readily available. This could be solved if NI made a cable with a 68 pin D male connecter as female bulkhead connectors are readily available. I notice that NI makes the SHC68-68M which would solve my problem but it appears to only be available in 0.3 meter length, which is virtually worthless for interconnection purposes. Would it be possible to make the male ended cable in .5 and 1 meter lengths? Is that too much to ask, really?

I have been continually frustrated by this problem and I believe others must be also. In the past I've cut the D off the NI cable and put another connector on that end but this is tedious. I've also used external scsi cables that mate to the DAQ board's VHDCI connector and have a MALE 68 pin D on the other end. The problem with this solution is that the twisted pairs in SCSI cables aren't quite right for the DAQ boards.

Please take making this male ended cable in longer lengths. If other DAQ users have encountered the same issue please let your dissatisfaction known.

Robert:

Would one of these work if you can find a 68 pin D gender changer?

Hi Robert,

I have created a product suggestion addressing your concern. I highly recommend you and anyone else who agrees to also create a suggestion. We regularly consider submitted suggestions and take them very seriously.

Thanks for the responses.

I have pursued the gender changer idea but a male/male gender changer for the 68 pin D connector is not readily available. For one job I did use a relatively short cable that had males on both ends which solved the problem but it was a bit of a kluge and I am looking for a cleaner, relatively cheap solution.

I will create a suggestion though I have done so in the past to no avail.
