NI-4350 giving error -10401

Help!  My NI-4350 (USB version) won't pass the tests in the Measurement and Automation Explorer.

Windows XP sees the device just fine, and the Explorer sees it under Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) Devices, but when i go for the Test Panels, it says "The device did not pass the test. Would you like to continue anyway?"   If I say Yes, it opens the test panel for the NI-4350 just like it's supposed to - except that it is not working.

It says "-10401" in the "Last Error" box, and refers to it as a Fatal Error.  All the readouts in the Test panels are reading 0, even though I connect signals to it.  If i switch the analog inputs to Resistance, it says 0 Ohms, so it's definitely not taking measurements.

The light on the box is steady, not blinking, so I know the hardware is not upset.  Error -10401 seems to be a software issue, but I have tried combinations of Legacy DAQ drivers and NI-4350 specific drivers (Versions 2.10 and 2.52) and can't get any different results.

Is there anything I am missing here?  I have tried EVERYTHING I have found on these forums relating to this kind of problem.

Thanks in advance,

Barn

Hello Barn,

Have you tried installing the newest drivers on another computer and testing it there? Has the device worked in the past and it failed only recently? Have you tried resetting the device under Traditional DAQ and then attempting to use it using the NI435x driver?

This additional information should shed some light on the nature of your problem.

Dan King
