NI 4351 traditional NI DAQ for Vista deploy to RT

Solved!
Go to solution

We are encountering the following problem.

We have several RT platforms with NI-4351 boards.

We developed the software on LV8.2 with XP OS and now we are moving on new PC (portable almost) with Vista and LV8.6.

We found that Traditional NI DAQ support isn't released on LV for Vista OS (unless the MAX reports that Tradidional NI-DAQ 7.4.4)

How we can solve this?

Taking into account that the software is deployed onto RT controller (PharLap)...

Sincerely

Hi Luigi,

Have you looked into the Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) for Windows Vista beta version?

Another possibility: if you only need to install NI 4351 devices on the RT controller and not the Windows PC, you may be able to deploy your application to the RT controller from a VM (Virtual PC, VMware, VirtualBox, etc.) running Windows XP and Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy). (None of these virtual machine solutions support PCI/PXI devices, but they can run LabVIEW.)

Thanks Brad,

I have already seen the beta driver but these terrific sentence: "The beta driver has not undergone extensive testing, and it is not recommended for use in deployed applications without full validation." disencourage us for using it.

What happens on the deploy to the RT controller?

The other solution you mention of course is a radical solution. Probably the better.

Someone knows if there are plans to support the 4351 on DAQmx?

Luigi

Hi Luigi,

unfortunatly there are no plans to support 4351 in DAQmx: it will be supported only in Traditional DAQ.

Bye.
