NI DAQ 6009 - What to do when the loopback test fails?

Hi all,

To perform a loopback test on my NI-DAQ 6009, I connected the AI0+ terminal of the DAQ to the AO0 and the AI- to the GND pinout (the one next to AO0).

Then I generated a +5V signal on the AO0, which I could confirm with a voltmeter, and set the AI0 to acquire analog signals.

The AI0 channel shows avery noisy signal that oscillates between around 6mV to -6mV. Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Are you using test panels or a VI?

AO0 (Pin 14) ---------- AI0/AI0+ (Pin 2)

AO GND (Pin 13) ---------- AI4/AI0- (Pin 3)

Task should be configured differential.

If you're using test panels, check out the attachments.  Came right up on mine, confirmed with my DMM.

Does self-test pass?

The self test passed. The loopback test I made using a task in MAX.

My connections were:

AO0 (Pin 14) ----------AI0+ (Pin 2)

AO GND (Pin 13) ---------- AI0- (Pin 3)

I couldn't figure out what the problem was so I just changed my input ports from AI0 to AI1.
