NI PCI 5105 showing error

Hi
I am using NI digitizer PCI 5105. It was working fine but now its shows an error "Error -239020 occured at Self-test for national instruments" and "Internal hardware error occured in MIG hardware. Please contact national instruments support". What might be the reason? Please help me to solve this problem.

Hi Paritosh

Typically this error indicates the device has trouble communicating with the onboard FPGA. Do you know what has changed from the time it was working to the time you started seeing this error? To determine if this is a hardware or a software issue, please try these steps to see if they solve the issue-

  1. Reset the device in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)
  2. Reboot the PC
  3. Try a different PCI slot
  4. Reinstall the device driver in the device manager (you don’t need to reinstall NI-SCOPE) by deleting the device and letting the operating system re-detect the hardware (Action>> Scan for New Devices in the Windows Device manager)
  5. Update the driver (NI-SCOPE) to the latest version
  6. If possible try the card in a different system

If none of the above steps solve the issue, you may need to call in on our support line at 866-ASK-MYNI (866-275-6964) and create an RMA request to return the board for repair.

Thank you for your reply. I can not reset the device in MAX because it shows the same error (Error -239020  when I press the reset button. I don't think there's any problem with the driver because I tested the device in 3 PCs and it didn't work on any of them. However, when i connect another PCI 5105 board which I have to all these PCs and it works fine. So I suspect it might be a hardware problem. Can i do anything to make sure of it?

Hi Paritosh,

When you connect another PCI 5105 board to the PC, is it in the same slot as the not working 5105? If so, this is a pretty good indication of a hardware issue and you can call in on our support line for an RMA. Thanks and have a nice day.

I connected the working PCI 5105 in the same slot. So i think it is a hardware problem. I'll contact the support line you've given me. Thanks for the help.
