NI PCIe 6321 data processing timing

Hello,

I would like to use an PCIe 6321 to built an analog output in function of the analog input.

I would like to work faster. In fact i just want to do some maths with the analog input in order to do an analogue output.

What kind of speep can i find with product. What is the treatement  delay from my input to my analog input?

Thanks

Dear lethbridge,

The NI PCIe 6231 can acquire analog data at a rate of 250 KS/s, while it can output analog signals at a rate of 900 KS/s. However, it is hard to know at what rate will your application run because the speed of analysis of your data will depend on the PC that you are using.

Thanks for your answer.

You mean that I have to control theboard every time by my PC.  Imeans that I can't upload a loop program inside and let it run without a PC managment ?

Should I change my mind and take a DSP borad to do my expectation?

Thanks

That is correct lethbridge,

You cannot do data analysis onboard for the 6321. All your data has to be processed by your PC (processed in software), so your PC will determine the speed of your application.

If you are concerned about the speed of your application, you might want to look into a PC that has a Real Time Operating System. Deterministic Operating Systems will allow you to achieve a higher time resolution for your application, and therefore speeding it up.
