Hi everybody,
I was hoping somebody could help me with this question. For an upcoming project I need to supply 5 V to a diesel engine as a throttle input. I was planning on doing that with the NI USB 6008. I have programmed my application and was able to generate the 5 V from the DAQ device but I was wondering if connecting ground wouldn't cause any problems. The diesel engine receives the 5V between points which are signal line and ground. The ground of the diesel engine is the same as the vehicle which is also the ground of the 12 V battery. Now I was thinking that I just need to simply create a common ground by connecting the ground of DAQ device to ground of the diesel engine and the output of the DAG device - analog output - to the throttle input on the diesel engine.
Does anybody see any problems in this setup?
Thanks & regards,
Lieven

Hi LievenD,
As long as the load of your engine doesn't exceed the current output ability of the 6008, and the impedences match, I think you should be fine.

thanks for the reply,
I don't think that should be a problem.
Will let you know when I finally get to it.
Thanks & regards,
